blast from the past

This was not a surprise, since back then he had a collection of over 2000 CDs and turned me onto music I would never have heard of (I was a Bruce girl mostly and whatever came on top 40 radio). During our relationship, he made me several mix tapes/CDs, and one of them had a song I fell madly in love with: The Weakness In Me by Thelonious Monster, a cover of an old Joan Armatrading song. This boyfriend broke my heart in a million pieces back then, so I couldn't bear to listen to those tapes and threw them away with typical 20something angst.
Well, this morning, I was driving home with my latte to finish my revisions for QUESTIONS TO ASK BEFORE MARRYING, and what do I hear on the radio? Maine radio? A million years later? A cover of The Weakness In Me by Melissa Etheridge, who I love. She does a gorgeous version (you can listen/see a You Tube video here.
I tried to find the Thelonious Monster version online, but no luck. I'll happily go buy the CD (Beautiful Mess).
